Every winter, when regular family sessions slow down and the rainy weather sets in, I take a few months to work on my business, reflect on the previous year, plan for the upcoming portrait season and most importantly, I shoot just for me. This is my time to re-charge my creativity, try new techniques and push myself beyond my comfort zone. This winter’s personal project is conceptual fine art.
I am excited by the process of being inspired by an idea, sketching out the idea, planning shots, strategically shooting those shots and then finally pulling all the steps together to create one image. This process has been incredibly frustrating and rewarding at the same time and there were three failed attempts at this one image.
There are still many things wrong with it and I am okay with that. Mistakes is where learning happens. People may like it or hate it and I am okay with that too. I am okay with that because this shot was for me and it makes me happy. Very happy.
